The geology, because it's actually fascinating: Tiger's Eye is a variety of quartz that formed when fibrous mineral inclusions (originally crocidolite, which is a form of asbestos) were gradually replaced by quartz through a geological process called pseudomorphism. So you're holding quartz that grew INTO the pattern of older fibers. Those fibers create the chatoyancy (cat's eye effect) - that band of moving light that resembles a feline pupil.
