The geology: Prehnite is a calcium aluminum silicate, notable in mineral history as the first mineral ever named after a person, Colonel Hendrik Von Prehn, who first brought specimens to Europe from South Africa in 1788. It's sometimes nicknamed Cape Emerald, despite not being related to true emerald at all, just an old trade name from its South African origins. Mohs hardness 6 to 6.5.
