Moonstone Tumbled Stone | Flashy Rainbow Moonstone Crystal | Feminine Energy Crystal | Pocket Stone
Moonstone tumbles with that gorgeous adularescent flash you can only really see in person. We love hunting for the pieces with the strongest flash - that floating bluish-white glow that seems to move under the surface as you tilt the stone. Some pieces have soft white shimmer, others throw blue or even rainbow flashes when the light hits right.
The geology: Moonstone is a member of the feldspar family - specifically a sodium-rich plagioclase feldspar called albite. That magical floating glow is called adularescence, and it's caused by light reflecting off microscopic alternating layers inside the crystal structure. So the flash isn't surface shimmer, it's actually happening inside the stone. It's been mined for thousands of years and shows up in jewelry from ancient Rome and India.
What you'll get:
- One intuitively chosen Moonstone tumble
- Polished smooth to show the flash
- Approximately 1 to 1.5 inches
- Mohs hardness 6 to 6.5 (a bit softer than quartz, so handle gently)
In crystal traditions, Moonstone is most often associated with feminine energy, intuition, and emotional balance - hence the moon connection. It's tied to the third eye and crown chakras in chakra work and is said to support new beginnings and inner reflection. Popular for meditation and for anyone drawn to lunar-themed crystal practices.
Heads up: moonstones look their best in good light. If you're shopping in a dim room you might miss the flash. Tilt under a lamp.
