The geology: both Moonstone and Sunstone are feldspar minerals. Moonstone's blue flash, called adularescence, comes from light scattering between microscopic internal layers, while Sunstone's golden sparkle, called aventurescence, comes from tiny copper or hematite platelet inclusions catching the light.
