About Chevron Amethyst: it's amethyst that grew in alternating layers with milky white quartz, creating those distinctive V-shaped or chevron-pattern bands. Sometimes called "Dream Amethyst" or "Banded Amethyst" because of how the layers create depth. Each piece has unique banding orientation - some show clear V-patterns, others have more horizontal striping.

The geology: Amethyst is a purple variety of quartz colored by trace iron and natural irradiation - same family as Smoky Quartz, but with different impurities creating different colors. Chevron Amethyst forms when amethyst and clear/milky quartz crystallize in alternating phases, producing the characteristic banded structure. Most market supply comes from Brazil and India.
