Sunstone tumbles with that incredible glittery flash inside warm orange-gold color. The geology: Sunstone is part of the feldspar family (related to Moonstone, actually). The glittery sparkle is called aventurescence or the schiller effect, and it's caused by tiny reflective inclusions of hematite, copper, or goethite inside the crystal. Larger inclusions create big sparkles, smaller ones create that warm sheen. Most Sunstone in the crystal market comes from India, with high-quality pieces also from Oregon (it's the official state gemstone there).
